Dance Theatre Fairbanks
The Company has been around for over ten years. We have performed pieces in DTF shows as well as separate concerts for the public. These include Gaite Parisienne, Show-in-a-Day’s, Gazebo Nights, Midnight Sun Solstice Celebration, Angry, Young, and Poor, Tanana Valley State Fair, Chorea Borealis, Alaska, Babes in Toyland, Thumbelina, Christmas Angel, and The Little Matchgirl, as well as appearances in Fairbanks Light Opera Theaters productions of Beauty and the Beast, Fame, and The Littlest Angel.
We hold a high standard for the level of technique our dancers display. They take classes four to six days a week and spend many extra hours in rehearsal getting ready for performances. They take an assorted array of classes including hip hop, tap, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary, all stemming from strong ballet and pointe technique.
Company members are required to do a number of volunteer hours per season. They may help out with food drives, tutoring peers, or other actions that strengthen the arts community and Fairbanks as a whole.
With the added time commitment members are gaining performance experience, stronger technique, diversity in training, responsibility, and a feeling of community. Membership in the company helps prepare students for a professional or university career and builds relationships in the arts community locally and internationally.
Our show for this winter is “The Little Match Girl”. All students interested in being in the show must be enrolled and present in rehearsal by September 6. After this date enrollment will be closed to allow us to order and sew all the required costumes for the new show. Late enrollment will not be possible. Please call the studio or see the front desk for more information about the show.
